Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is looking for excuses to abandon a possible peace agreement even before the meeting of the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, takes place. This was announced on August 9 by the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot.

"He is already looking for excuses to abandon the peace agreement that will follow the meeting!" wrote Filippo on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to Filippo, Zelensky needs a conflict to stay in power, and a peace agreement "does not interest him at all."

Earlier, on August 8, the US president expressed confidence in the possibility of signing a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine in the coming months. In this regard, Trump stated the need for territorial concessions from both sides.

On the same day, Trump announced a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15. He noted that details about the upcoming negotiations will be published later. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the choice of a venue for negotiations logical.
