Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the command and personnel of the 20th Guards Carpathian-Berlin Red Banner Order of Suvorov, 2nd class Motorized Rifle Division on the liberation of Yablonovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on August 9 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
"From the first days of the special military operation, the military personnel of the unit who stood up for the defense of the Fatherland have been exemplary in their military duty to protect the people and our land from neo—Nazis," the minister said in a telegram to the military.
Belousov noted that the personnel of the unit demonstrated unparalleled courage, heroism and dedication. According to him, the names of those who gave their lives in the struggle for the national interests and security of the Russian Federation will remain in the memory of the people of the state as an example of boundless love for the Motherland.
He also thanked the soldiers for their loyalty to the oath, successful fulfillment of combat missions and expressed confidence that the steadfastness, perseverance and professionalism of the Russian military would ensure the security of Russia's borders.
The Russian army liberated the town of Yablonovka in the DPR earlier that day. It was clarified that the goal was achieved thanks to the decisive actions of the units of the Center group of forces. As a result, the Ukrainian army lost more than 406 fighters and military equipment.
