This opinion was expressed on Saturday, August 9, by Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the head of the Russian Federation for cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

"Of course, a number of countries interested in continuing the conflict will make titanic efforts (provocations and disinformation) to disrupt the planned meeting between President Putin and President Trump," Dmitriev said in his Telegram channel.

The day before, Dmitriev commented on the choice of Alaska as a place for talks between Putin and Trump, noting that Alaska makes the United States an Arctic country. In addition, he invited the two countries to cooperate on environmental, infrastructure and energy issues in the Arctic region.
