- Miroshnik told about the hostage-taking of Chasova Yar residents by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) took residents of Chasova Yar of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) hostage. This was announced on August 9 by the Russian Foreign Ministry's Ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik.
"There is such evidence, which is already being transmitted by people who have left the war zone, that people are simply being held in places where representatives of the armed formations of Ukraine are nearby, and people are simply being forced to perform certain functions simply to provide military units," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to Miroshnik, Ukrainian soldiers send civilians for water under fire and perceive citizens as human shields. At the same time, the ambassador clarified that such a situation was observed not only in Chasovoy Yar, but also in other settlements where the fighting took place.
"That is, in principle, it is coercion to perform those functions that, firstly, are not characteristic of the civilian population, and the real exploitation of these people in their interests, risking their own lives," he stressed.
Russian military personnel liberated Chasov Yar on July 31. Retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, a former special forces officer, noted that the liberation of the settlement creates new prospects for the Russian army in the region. The Ministry of Defense clarified that during the liberation of Chasova Yar, more than 4.2 thousand buildings were cleared, and the Ukrainian army lost about 7.5 thousand militants and 11 tanks.
