- Pashinyan announced the continuation of the delimitation of borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan
The process of delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan will continue, and the borders of the Soviet period will be restored. This was announced on August 9 by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"There are territories that belong to us, but are under the control of Azerbaijan, and there are territories that belong to Azerbaijan, but are under our control. The process of delimitation must continue," Pashinyan said at an online press conference broadcast on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Pashinyan added that the territories of independent Armenia and Azerbaijan are identical to those of the Soviet republics. The territories that are part of Armenia but belong to Azerbaijan must be returned. Azerbaijan should do the same with the Armenian territories that are part of the country, the Armenian Prime Minister said.
On August 8, Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict. In addition, the American side announced the lifting of restrictions on military cooperation with Azerbaijan. It is noted that during the meeting, Pashinyan and Aliyev agreed to end the confrontation and resume diplomatic relations.
