The attacker, who opened fire near the Emory University campus in Atlanta, was eliminated by law enforcement officers. This was reported on August 8 by NBC News.

It is noted that one law enforcement officer was also injured during the shootout. Four more people were forced to seek medical help "due to symptoms of stress and anxiety."

The investigation of the incident is currently at a preliminary stage.
