Video footage has emerged of the moment the cable car broke in Nalchik

The moment of the breakage of the chairlift in the resort area of Nalchik was captured on video cameras, footage of the incident on August 8 is published by Izvestia.

The recording shows that the cable car was operating normally, people were in chairs and moving over the lake on a funicular.

Then, at some point, the cable suddenly sagged and sank down. One of the attraction's users, a man, found himself almost on the ground and hovered in the air a few meters from the surface.

The reasons for the cable car breakage are still unknown.

The cable car broke earlier in the day. A criminal case was opened into the incident under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers, which negligently caused serious harm").

The press service of the Ministry of Health of Kabardino-Balkaria reported that the number of injured in the incident currently stands at eight people, one of them is in intensive care in serious condition.
