- The accused of setting fire to a house with his family was taken into custody in Blagoveshchensk.
A court in Blagoveshchensk (Amur region) has chosen a preventive measure for a 37-year-old man who set fire to a house with his family in it, including three children. He is accused of attempted murder, according to the regional prosecutor's office.
"Taking into account the position of the prosecutor's office, as well as the fact that the man attempted to escape from the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure against the accused in the form of detention until October 2," the report says.
The investigation believes that on the night of August 1, on Dragoshevsky Street, a 37-year-old man poured gasoline over the front door of the veranda of an apartment building and set it on fire with a lighter. There were six people inside the building at that moment, including three children born in 2007, 2012 and 2024.
A man living next door prevented the tragedy. He noticed the fire and extinguished it in time, PriamurMedia news agency clarifies.
The arsonist is charged under Part 3 of Article 30, paragraphs "a, b, d, e" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Attempted murder of two or more persons, including a minor, committed with extreme cruelty in a generally dangerous manner." The investigation is ongoing.
