A truck driver is awaiting trial for a bus accident in Buryatia
In Buryatia, the investigation of a criminal case on an accident involving a truck and a passenger bus has been completed, as a result of which six people were injured. This is reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Buryatia.
The accident occurred on October 15, 2024 in the area of the Mandrik Pass in the territory of the Baikal region of the republic, when it was snowing wet. The driver of the road train lost control of the semi-trailer at a speed of 30 km/h, drove into oncoming traffic and crashed into a regular bus.
As a result of the collision, a 73-year-old bus passenger was seriously injured and was hospitalized. Five more people also applied for medical help, UlanMedia news agency clarifies.
The person involved in the case is a 38-year-old native of the Novgorod region, who was driving a tractor truck. He was charged under Part 1 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules, which negligently caused serious harm to health."
The materials of the criminal case have been submitted to the court for consideration on the merits. During the investigation, the accused was on his own recognizance.
