In a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping expressed support for resolving the Ukrainian crisis. This was reported in the Kremlin's press service.

"Xi Jinping, thanking for the information provided, expressed support for resolving the Ukrainian crisis on a long—term basis," the Kremlin's Telegram channel wrote.

The Chinese president also thanked Putin for providing information about the meeting with the US President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff, stressing the importance of maintaining dialogue between Moscow and Washington.

Xi Jinping noted that Beijing welcomes the improvement of bilateral relations between Russia and the United States, as well as continued cooperation at the strategic level between the two countries.

Later, on August 7, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that Russia and the United States had agreed on a meeting between Putin and Trump in the coming days. He noted that the parties have already started working out agreements on negotiations between the two leaders.
