The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation will change the rules of vehicle registration

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared amendments to the Administrative Regulations on Vehicle Registration. On August 8, the State Traffic Inspectorate announced this in its Telegram channel.

It is clarified that the basis for the development of the amendments was the adoption of a Federal Law, which required bringing into line with the legislation of the current regulatory legal acts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia regulating the procedure for the provision of vehicle registration services.

In particular, in order to ensure that widows of participants in a special military operation can use vehicles owned by their spouses, the draft order supplements the list of documents required for registration. This list will additionally be expanded due to the certificate of the surviving spouse's right to temporary use of a vehicle that was owned by a person who died in connection with participation in his/her own. The list will also include a certificate of ownership of a share in the common property of the spouses, issued by a notary at the place of opening of the inheritance, if there is a document confirming the death (death) of the owner of the vehicle in connection with participation in his own.

It is assumed that the new provisions will enter into force on August 31, 2025, simultaneously with the entry into force of the relevant federal law No. 318-FZ dated July 31, 2025 "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation".
