The White House administration considers it necessary to completely eliminate the radical Palestinian movement Hamas and has no plans to recognize the statehood of Palestine. This was announced on August 8 by US Vice President Jay Dee Vance at a meeting with British Foreign Minister David Lammy.

"The President [of the United States Donald Trump] has made it clear that we have very simple goals regarding the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip. First, we want Hamas to never again be able to attack innocent civilians in Israel. We believe that this should be achieved by eradicating Hamas," The Times newspaper quoted him as saying.

He added that the American leader is deeply touched by the images of the horrific humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and Washington intends to contribute to solving this problem. At the same time, the White House has no plans to recognize the independence of Palestine, but it will not influence the United Kingdom, which has previously stated that it is ready to make the opposite decision.

"We have no plans to recognize a Palestinian state. I do not know what recognition of a Palestinian state would really mean, given that there is no functioning government there," Vance said.

On July 28, Trump announced that he had no plans to take a specific position on the issue of recognizing the State of Palestine. According to the politician, in the current situation, he considers the humanitarian crisis in the region more important. He added that children in the Gaza Strip actually look very hungry, despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements to the contrary.

In turn, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on July 29 that London would recognize the statehood of Palestine in September on the eve of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He stressed that recognition of Palestine will happen if the Israeli government "does not reach a cease-fire" and "does not commit to a long-term peace process."
