The Telegraph: Zelensky admitted the impossibility of regaining lost territories
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has admitted that the return of territories under Russian control is now impossible. This is reported by The Telegraph newspaper.
"Zelensky admitted that the release <...> territories with the help of armed force are no longer possible and it is necessary to look for diplomatic options," the publication says.
It is noted that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire, provided that the international community does not recognize the territories that have come under Russian control.
The Telegraph also reports, citing survey data, that only about 25% of Ukrainians want to continue fighting, which is evidence of a sharp drop in the population's faith in achieving victory.
Earlier, on August 5, Matthew Whitaker, the US Permanent Representative to NATO, said that the Ukrainian conflict could not be resolved through military action. He noted that he agrees with the position of the American President Donald Trump on the need to end the conflict. According to him, it is necessary to reach a settlement through diplomatic means.
Later, on August 7, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that an agreement had been agreed on a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump in the coming days. At the moment, the parties have begun working out arrangements for a meeting between the two leaders. He clarified that the meeting place had already been agreed, but it would be announced a little later.
