Lukashenko called the attack on the Kursk region a strategic mistake of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The attempt to capture the Kursk region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was an absolute military mistake by the Kiev authorities, since almost all the units thrown there were destroyed by the Russian army, and the AFU did not achieve any result. This was stated on August 8 by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with the American magazine Time.

He noted that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin was initially right on this issue from a strategic point of view, stating that Ukraine had made a military mistake after the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Kursk region.

"I didn't believe him at the time, that it was a mistake from a military point of view, because they (the Ukrainian Armed Forces. — ed.) huge forces were thrown there. And so it was. Moreover, the best forces, prepared. They went in there. Now they are almost all destroyed. The result was not achieved and other sections of the front were exposed," the text of the interview is given on the website of the Belarusian leader.

According to the Russian president, conditions have now appeared for further successful actions by our troops in other sectors of the front.

On August 4, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the Russian government would allocate more than 40 billion rubles to the Kursk region. He stressed the importance of helping citizens and businesses where they work so that people who have lost their homes can return to normal life.

On April 26, the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, reported on the liberation of the last Kursk village of Gornal from the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the President of Russia. He noted that the total losses of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk area amounted to more than 76 thousand people. Putin congratulated and thanked the personnel of the military units of the Russian Armed Forces who took part in the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.
