President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has announced that he has no plans to run for the next presidential election in the country. He said this in an interview with Time magazine on August 8, which was published on the official website of the Belarusian leader.

"No, I'm not planning now, I'm not planning anymore. The only thing I can afford is somewhere for myself, I didn't say that either.: Well, listen, if [US President Donald] Trump is about to turn 80 and he looks decent," Lukashenko said.

In addition, the Belarusian leader stressed that his youngest son Nikolai would not succeed him as president of Belarus.

"No, he's not the successor. I knew you'd want to ask. No, no, no. If you ask him, you can offend him so much with this," he said.

Earlier, on January 26, Lukashenko said he was not looking for a successor to transfer power. The Belarusian leader noted that he was not sure whether Natalia Kochanova, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, and Vladimir Kukharev, chairman of the Minsk city executive Committee, were looking for a successor, but suggested that they might be thinking about it.
