The number of counterfeit banknotes decreased in the Chelyabinsk region

The number of counterfeit banknotes has tripled in 2025 in the Chelyabinsk region. This is reported by the news agency " <url>" with reference to the regional branch of the Bank of Russia.

The reduction in the number of counterfeits has been observed for five years. Since the beginning of the year, experts have discovered 14 counterfeit banknotes with a face value of 1,000 rubles, in 2024 there were 26 such banknotes. In addition, seven banknotes with a face value of 5,000 rubles were withdrawn from circulation. In 2024, 40 forgeries of this denomination were discovered.

Employees of the Bank of Russia ask citizens to be attentive, despite the improvement in the situation with the turnover of fakes.

In the Amur region, an increase in the number of counterfeit banknotes was registered in the first quarter of 2025. Experts have identified 16 fakes, which is four times more than in the same period of 2024.
