Lukashenko expressed readiness to organize a trilateral meeting on Ukraine
On August 8, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced his readiness to organize a trilateral meeting in Minsk to resolve the situation in Ukraine.
"Let's decide in advance: for example, the hero city of Minsk, Istanbul, Geneva, we have decided — this meeting will be held in a month. The first day is the American—Russian relations, for example, we are discussing. On the second day, if we come to an agreement on a draft document of some kind, we invite [President of Ukraine Vladimir] Zelensky, Lukashenko, Petrov, Sidorov. It will look decent," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying in an interview with Time magazine.
Lukashenko stressed that such negotiations should not be approached spontaneously, they need to be worked out and prepared in advance. According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin would love to meet with American leader Donald Trump in the Belarusian capital. Trump himself will be pleased with the meeting.
The Belarusian leader also added that Putin, like the Russian society, wants peace and is ready for negotiations.
On August 7, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that an agreement had been agreed on a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump in the coming days. He clarified that the meeting place had already been agreed, but it would be announced a little later.
