The leader of the Fair Russia — For Truth party, State Duma deputy Sergei Mironov, proposed freezing prices for basic necessities from September 1 until the New Year. He announced this on August 8.

"Inflation exceeded 9% by the end of July, and seasonal stabilization of prices for fruit and vegetable products has now begun, but deflation is not as noticeable as in previous years, and it will end soon. I propose to fix prices for the most popular foodstuffs at the lowest point of inflation, namely from September 1 until the New Year," he told the RIA Novosti news agency.
