Kobakhidze accused Saakashvili of harming Georgia's interests in 2008
The regime of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili began military operations in August 2008 and inflicted severe damage on the country's national interests. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters on Friday, August 8.
He noted that there are a number of documents signed by the government of that time, which, according to him, indicate that it was Saakashvili who started the war. The prime minister called it a betrayal and stressed that the evidence is irrefutable.
"At dawn on August 8, 2008, the then regime proudly announced in the morning that they were taking village after village, village after village, advancing towards Tskhinvali, entering Tskhinvali, heading for the Roki Tunnel," Kobakhidze recalled.
