King Ibrahim of Malaysia met with chak-chak in Tatarstan
The plane carrying Malaysia's supreme ruler Sultan Ibrahim landed at Kazan airport. This was announced on August 8 by Lilia Galimova, press secretary of the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, in her Telegram channel.
"Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has arrived in the capital of Tatarstan," the spokeswoman said.
The Malaysian monarch is on an official visit to Russia for the first time. During the trip, negotiations are planned in Moscow, as well as a work program in Tatarstan. The meeting of the head of state was held at the Kazan airport in accordance with diplomatic norms. In addition, the sultan was offered traditional Russian sweets, including chak-chak.
The King will stay in Russia until August 10. He arrived at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom he held talks. The heads of state discussed the development of bilateral relations, the economy, and current international and regional issues. During the visit, the monarch also visited the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Motor Engineering Institute (NAMI).
The King of Malaysia arrived in Russia on his first state visit on August 5. His plane landed at Vnukovo-2 airport. The next day, on August 6, the Russian President met Sultan Ibrahim in the St. George's Hall of the Kremlin.
During the talks, the head of state noted that the trade turnover between Russia and Malaysia has grown by more than 40% since the beginning of 2025, which is a very good indicator. In turn, the supreme ruler of Malaysia said that the country perceives Russia as an important partner that can be trusted.
