- Patrushev instructed to complete the development of the water strategy as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Rosvodresursam need to finalize the development of a new Russian water strategy in the near future. This instruction was given on August 8 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev during a meeting of the board of the Federal Agency for Water Resources.
It is noted that the list of tasks includes restoring the environment, protecting the population from floods, as well as monitoring sewage treatment plants. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, this document should become a clear instruction for management at the federal and regional levels.
Patrushev paid special attention to the modernization of hydraulic engineering facilities.
"In recent years, five large facilities have been commissioned, which has made it possible to provide water to more than 2.5 million people. By 2030, another 90 different projects are expected to be implemented, for which the government plans to allocate about 65 billion rubles," he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that some of the projects have already started. So, we are talking about the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in the Omsk region and a reservoir in the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR). Also in the future, an artificial reservoir will appear in the Kursk region and work will continue on flooding the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain.
On July 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out the need for rational use of water as a resource. He stressed that it is necessary to use water as a resource for the economy rationally, without disturbing the balance. The Head of State also drew attention to the fact that water resources give the Russian Federation huge competitive advantages.
