The analyst reported an increase in school expenses in 2025
Preparing children for the new school year in 2025 will cost parents an average of 35% more than a year earlier. Alexey Lossan, an analyst at the financial marketplace Compare, told Izvestia about this on August 10.
It is noted that the prices of the wardrobe for girls have increased especially significantly, which has risen in price by almost one and a half times compared to last year. In addition, office supplies rose in price by an average of 22%, while the price increase affected more than two thirds of all items studied. The largest price increases were recorded for modeling boards (90%), plasticine (69%) and watercolor (48%). At the same time, some products have become more affordable: brushes have fallen in price by 12%, and gouache albums by 8%.
"The survey data shows a significant variation in budgets: if 40% of respondents fit into the amount of up to 10 thousand rubles, then 23% of parents spend more than 50 thousand rubles on school fees," Lossan said.
A more significant increase in prices is observed in the segment of school clothes. A basic wardrobe for a boy will now cost an average of 29,600 rubles, which is 36% higher than last year's figures. A set of clothes for girls rose in price by 47%, reaching 33 573 rubles. The increase in prices for girls' shoes (123%) and blouses (100%) is especially noticeable.
According to the study, the main items of expenditure in preparing children for school are stationery, clothing and shoes, which account for 69% of all expenses. Monthly expenses for a student also vary significantly: 56% of families plan to spend up to 10,000 rubles per month, while 11% are willing to spend more than 50,000 rubles.
In addition, additional education takes a significant share in the family budget. 38% of parents plan to spend from 3 thousand to 10 thousand rubles per month on clubs and sections, and 18% – over 20 thousand rubles. At the same time, 26% of respondents do not bear the cost of additional education, since their children either attend free classes or do not study in them at all.
"It is especially significant that almost a quarter of parents are willing to spend more than 50,000 rubles on school fees, which for many families is comparable to a monthly income. The majority of Russians (68%) pay for school expenses from current income. However, 16% are forced to use their own savings, and another 16% resort to borrowed funds," Lossan concluded.
On July 25, deputies of the State Duma drafted a bill according to which parents of schoolchildren will be paid annually an amount equal to the subsistence minimum before the start of the school year.
