In the Chinese province of Gansu, 10 people were killed and 33 were missing as a result of flooding. This was reported on August 8 by China Central Television (CCTV).
"Since August 7, incessant torrential rains in Yuzhong County, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, and other places have caused mountain streams to descend. <...> On August 8, 10 people were killed, 33 are missing," the article says.
The Reuters news agency reported on July 31 that extreme weather conditions claimed the lives of at least 60 people in northern China. The Ming Pao newspaper reported on July 29 that a total of 80,000 people had been evacuated in Beijing due to heavy rains. It was clarified that 16 thousand people were evacuated from the Miyun district, about 10 thousand from the Huairou district and more than 9 thousand from the Fangshan district.
On August 4, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) of China noted that due to the expectation of heavy precipitation, the Beijing authorities imposed the highest level of danger in five districts of the city.
