In Kamchatka, a pilot landed a helicopter on a volcano and died.

A helicopter pilot landed a helicopter with passengers on Krasheninnikov Volcano in Kamchatka and died. This was announced on August 8 by the press service of the Eastern Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Telegram channel.

It is specified that the pilot of the Robinson aircraft was flying with passengers on board on the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky - Valley of Geysers – Krasheninnikov Volcano – Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky route. He felt unwell during the landing. Then the pilot of another helicopter transported him to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to receive medical care, but the man died.

"A pre—investigation check is being conducted on the grounds of a crime under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers")," the publication says.

According to the Izvestia source, the deceased pilot is the owner of the helicopter, he was driving his friends. The pilot previously died of acute heart failure.

According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Telegram channel, six stranded tourists have already been evacuated by air. According to the agency, rescuers promptly arrived by Mi-8 helicopter and transported the Russians to the city of Yelizovo. At the same time, the Ministry of Health of the region told Izvestia that difficult weather conditions prevented people who were stuck on one of Kamchatka's volcanoes due to the death of a helicopter pilot.

At the moment, the Kamchatka Transport Prosecutor's Office is establishing the circumstances of the incident, the press service of the department noted in the Telegram channel.

Earlier, on August 1, it was reported that a pensioner died in hospital after attempting to take off in a homemade helicopter in the village of Zalazna in the Kirov region. It is specified that an explosion occurred when revving: the blades broke off, and one pierced the amateur pilot's head.
