- Russian Permanent Representative Polyansky commented on the alleged meeting between Putin and Zelensky
Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, said on August 7 that he did not have information related to the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
"I am not aware of any scheduled meetings with President Zelensky, but I am not aware of all the details. I think these things are now being very actively commented on through the channels of the two presidents," he said during a meeting with reporters. A transcript of Polyansky's statement and a conversation with media staff is available on the official website of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations.
Polyansky noted that the Russian president's meeting with US President Donald Trump will probably take place next week, but there is no information about the exact location of the talks.
Earlier in the day, Trump said that there was no need for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky for negotiations between the United States and Russia.
Earlier in the day, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that an agreement had been agreed between the Russian Federation and the United States to meet in the coming days. He noted that the parties have already started working out agreements on negotiations between the two leaders.
The day before, Trump said during a speech in the Oval Office of the White House that there are good prospects for a meeting with Putin. In addition, he expressed hope for an early meeting between Putin and Zelensky.
