In hot weather, applying perfume or deodorant can lead to burns and unwanted skin pigmentation. About this on August 8, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by Alexey Panov, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy at RTU MIREA, Candidate of Chemical Sciences.

"Certain substances in the composition [of aromatic products] can significantly increase the sensitivity of the skin to ultraviolet radiation and lead to phototoxic and photoallergic reactions," Panov explained.

According to the expert, bergamot, lemon, orange, lavender and sandalwood oils can lead to inflammation of the skin area where it got together with other components of perfumes, lotions and deodorants.

To reduce the risk of burns, the expert recommended limiting the use of perfumes and choosing a deodorant without aromatic additives.

Earlier that day, dermatovenerologist, cosmetologist at Atlas clinics, MD, Associate Professor Natalia Gryazeva spoke about the causes of skin diseases. According to a dermatovenerologist, skin diseases can signal a malfunction of the body as a whole.
