In the city of Kholmsk, Sakhalin region, a bus driver was sentenced to 10 years in prison for embezzlement of more than 21 million rubles. This was announced on August 8 by the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region in its Telegram channel.
"The investigation has been completed and a criminal case has been sent to court against an individual entrepreneur who carried out passenger transportation. He is accused of embezzlement of budget funds on a particularly large scale," the report says.
According to the investigation, since July 2021, the accused passenger bus driver provided false information about the actual amount of work performed in order to receive subsidies to compensate for the cost of transporting beneficiaries. In the accounting documents, he intentionally overestimated the data directly affecting the calculation of the subsidy amount. At the moment, the total amount of damage is more than 21 million rubles.
Four criminal cases were opened on the fact of the crime at different times under Parts 3 and 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on a large and especially large scale"). According to the court verdict, the fraudster was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Earlier, on August 7, a resident of the Amur region gave 2.5 million rubles to fraudsters. It is noted that the interlocutor began to extort money under various pretexts. The woman had been making the transfers for several weeks. The criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale").
