Netanyahu says Israel has no plan to control the Gaza Strip
Israel does not have a plan to control the Gaza Strip, and the government intends to transfer control of this region to Arab forces. This was announced on August 7 by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"We don't want to be there [in the Gaza Strip] as a governing body. We want to hand it over to Arab forces who will manage it properly, without threatening us and providing the Gazans with a good life," Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News.
He clarified that the only way for Israel to achieve this goal is to eliminate the radical Palestinian movement Hamas.
As noted by "Gazeta.Ru", Israel does not consider control over the sector, but sees the need to ensure a "security perimeter".
Earlier, on August 4, the Ynet portal reported on Israel's preparation of a plan for the complete occupation of the Gaza Strip. It was clarified that the Israeli leadership intends to switch to active combat operations throughout the enclave. At the same time, the government noted that the army's actions will be conducted even in areas where hostages are being held.
On the same day, it was reported that Hamas was open to negotiations on a comprehensive agreement on Gaza that would resolve the conflict in the Palestinian enclave and release all hostages. At the same time, it was noted that the movement considers the search for a comprehensive agreement to be the key to negotiations on its long-standing demands.
