A young female vulture settled in the Leningrad Zoo
A young female vulture has become a participant in the permanent exhibition of the Leningrad Zoo. She was placed near the giraffe enclosure, the press service of the institution reported on Thursday, August 7.
"When many people mention this feathered bird, a gloomy image pops up in their head: a large, hunched bird with a bald head and neck and dark plumage," the zoo said.
In reality, vultures are small birds. They have a white color with black spots on the wings, a yellow "mask" and a fluffy cap of feathers on their head.
Now the feathered inhabitant is two years old and she still wears a "childish" colorful outfit. By avian standards, she is a teenager, writes 78.ru .
