In Russia, they proposed labeling more car parts

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has proposed to expand the list of automotive components for which an experiment on labeling is being conducted. This was reported to Izvestia on August 7 in the press service of the department.

As follows from the draft resolution, we are talking about such types of components of vehicles and devices with an internal combustion engine as filters, car windows, spark plugs, brake discs and pads, as well as wheel rims.

The changes are due to the need to increase the effectiveness of control over the turnover of a wider list of vehicle components, the Ministry of Industry and Trade noted.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade recalled that the experiment on labeling by means of identification is being conducted from February 25, 2025 to February 28, 2026.

The experiment is voluntary — the equipment and labeling codes for the period of testing are provided by Operator-CRPT LLC free of charge.

On August 5, Alexey Tikhomirov, General Director of Lada-Image JSC, said that counterfeit auto parts pose a serious threat to the safety of drivers and passengers. They can also lead to the failure of warranty repairs and legal consequences.

According to the expert, original products are usually equipped with holograms, QR codes and serial numbers. The difference from the corporate identity, distortion of fonts and colors may also indicate forgery.
