Edgard Zapashny talked about trips to the front
Edgard Zapashny, People's Artist of Russia, General Director of the Great Moscow State Circus, told the Izvestia podcast that he regularly visits the free zone on various missions, both with circus performers and on his own.
"We worked in many locations, in military hospitals. We can't even talk about some locations. The two of us gave a concert with my friend Vitaly Gagunsky: I told jokes, and he sang. For the guys, the arrival of a public figure is already an event, a distraction," he said.
The podcast guest also said that he is filming the program "Men", for which he regularly has to travel "behind the ribbon" (behind the front line. — Ed.).
"I travel there all the time on various missions, both humanitarian and informational," Zapashny said.
With his trips, among other things, he would like to attract the attention of cultural figures who can perform in their area, but still do not do so.
"I try to make it hurt my colleagues who don't do it, who could easily do it, but for some reason still don't. I am very ashamed of them," the People's Artist stated.
Zapashny also said that by abandoning the Russian language, which is native to many Ukrainians, Ukrainians are turning into a nation of traitors.
"People living in Ukraine should realize that they are being turned into a nation of traitors. Today, a man from Ukraine is not respected as a person who can be trusted: he has turned from Alexander into Alexander. The first thing he did was betray his parents, betray his language," he explained his position.
As an example, the artist cited the Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usyk. He noted that during the fight, the coach communicates with the athlete only in Russian.
"He gets hints in the language he understands best and fastest. But as soon as the fight ends, he starts speaking only in Ukrainian. This is a betrayal of oneself," the artist emphasized.
According to him, many people continue to communicate in Russian in everyday life, but in the public field they defiantly switch to Ukrainian.
On July 11, the head of the institution, Alexander Paretsky, said that about 60 musicians of the Donetsk State Academic Philharmonic had embarked on a special military operation in the winter of 2022. According to him, many people "change their worldview" when he tells them that philharmonic artists do not entertain military personnel, but they themselves stand up for the Motherland.
