The exact date of the meeting between Putin and Trump is still unknown, however, according to Ushakov, it may take place in the coming days.
"At the suggestion of the American side, an agreement was agreed in principle to hold a bilateral summit in the coming days <...> A guideline was set for next week, but the parties are starting preparations for this important meeting directly, and it is difficult to say how many days the preparations will take," he told reporters.
Ushakov also stressed that the Russian side is positive about the prospect of holding a meeting of the heads of state next week. At the same time, he clarified that the option of a trilateral meeting of the leaders of the Russian Federation, the United States and Ukraine, proposed by the special envoy of the American president Stephen Witkoff during his visit to Moscow, has not yet been considered.
"The Russian side has left this option completely, completely without comment. We propose first of all to focus on the preparation of a bilateral meeting with Donald Trump," he said.
The American president, in turn, expressed hope for an early meeting with the Russian leader. During a speech in the Oval Office of the White House on August 6, he said that the chances of holding such a meeting were high. According to CNN sources, Trump has already ordered his team to begin preparations as soon as possible.

The location of the talks between Putin and Trump remains a secret for now. Nevertheless, according to Ushakov, this meeting point between the two leaders has already been agreed.
"The venue was also agreed upon in principle, and we will inform you about it later," he said.
The presidential aide added that the parties are now starting to work out the details of the upcoming meeting.
When was the last meeting between Putin and Trump
The last personal meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump took place in 2019 on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Osaka. The heads of state discussed the situation in the world, in particular in Iran, Syria, Venezuela and Ukraine. They also agreed to continue discussions on the modern model of arms control.
