Israel has signed an agreement with Egypt, according to which the Arab republic will be supplied with a volume of 130 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth $35 billion. This was announced on August 7 by Dmitry Gendelman, an adviser in the office of the Israeli Prime Minister.

He noted that this agreement is the largest export document in the history of Israel. According to it, NewMed Energy must export the specified volume of gas from the Israeli Leviathan field to Egypt by 2040.

"Supplies will be implemented in two stages: at the first stage, starting this year, about 20 billion cubic meters will be delivered; at the second stage, after the completion of the expansion of the Leviathan platform, another 110 billion cubic meters. m," Handelman noted in his Telegram channel.

The signed document significantly expands the partnership between the two countries and will serve as the basis for a long-term energy infrastructure until at least 2064. The reserves of the Leviathan gas field on the Mediterranean shelf amount to 600 billion cubic meters of natural gas, Gendelman added.

Egypt is acting as a mediator in the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement. As the head of Egypt's state information service, Dia Rashwan, noted on April 14, Cairo's efforts in mediating between representatives of Tel Aviv and the Palestinian group had a positive impact and made possible an early cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
