Over the past day, 347 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 36 people were killed and 412 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on August 7 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. 25 of the dead were drivers and passengers, the ministry said.

19 bus accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which four people were killed, and another 25 road users, including one child, required medical attention. The cause of 12 incidents were traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

As a result of 72 accidents involving pedestrians, 11 people were killed, and 62 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 11 child pedestrians, five of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 24 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 48 outside their area of operation.

49 accidents involving minors were registered, 54 young road users were injured, including 24 passengers, four cyclists and nine drivers. One teenage passenger was killed.

So, in the Pskov region, a 20-year-old passenger car driver, whose driving experience is less than a month, lost control and drove off the road, after which he crashed into a tree and overturned. As a result of the accident, two passengers of the inexperienced driver died, including a 14-year-old schoolboy. The culprit of the accident and two other passengers were hospitalized with injuries.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urges motorists to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more careful when driving, especially at night. The life and health of passengers depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior of the driver.

"Give up risky driving, exceeding the speed limit, sudden changes of lanes, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers. Always leave yourself plenty of time to react adequately to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment. Driving discipline and caution are especially necessary for novice motorists who still feel very insecure while driving," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy Head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The State Traffic Inspectorate also reminds parents of underage road users of the need to be more attentive to their children, trying to ensure maximum safety for them on the road in the summer. The lack of parental control over children and teenagers on the street during the summer holidays, when they spend a lot of time outdoors, often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users, the department emphasizes.

Earlier today it became known that next Friday and the weekend, August 8-10, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate will hold a preventive event "Motorcycle safety".
