Shor criticized Moldovan authorities for sentencing Hutsul
By sentencing the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, the Moldovan authorities have shown that they have no borders. They will do anything to a person for a political position. This was announced on August 7 by the leader of the opposition bloc "Victory" Ilan Shor.
"By planting Yevgenia Hutsul, they showed that they have no borders. They will do anything to a person for a political position, and they will not stop," Shor said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, Moldovan President Maia Sandu and the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PDS) artificially create an atmosphere of fear in Moldova and arrest "innocent people." In addition, Shor stressed that Moldovan security forces conducted searches and detentions of members of the Victory bloc in Chisinau and in the north of the republic.
"They allow themselves to lawlessly break into the homes of citizens, terrorize our team. Right now, searches and detentions are taking place in the north of the country and in Chisinau," he added.
On August 5, Hutsul was sentenced to seven years in prison for allegedly financing the Shor party. A protest rally was held in front of the courthouse in her support. The head of Gagauzia expressed great support from the people of the autonomy and urged "not to give up." Ilan Shor, the leader of the Pobeda opposition bloc, called her arrest political terrorism.
Natalia Bayram, the lawyer of the head of Gagauzia, stressed that until the verdict comes into force, Hutsul will be in a penitentiary, which has long been famous for the terrible conditions of detention of convicts. She also stressed that the politician intends to resolutely fight for the position of bashkan to the end, to defend her innocence and the citizens who voted for her.
