Seven people were killed in an accident involving a Mercedes Sprinter minibus with a truck on the Baku–Gazakh highway in the Shamkir region of Azerbaijan, five more people were injured. This was reported on August 7 by Media.az with reference to the Republic's Land Transport Agency (AYNA).

"As a result of the accident, seven people were killed and five were injured. A criminal case has been opened," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the minibus collided with the trailer of a KAMAZ truck. The driver and six passengers of the truck died at the scene. Five more people received injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized.

According to preliminary information, the driver's heart attack was the cause of the incident. The circumstances of the incident are being established.

The day before, the Daily Monitor newspaper reported that at least 19 people were killed and 13 injured in Uganda after a truck with people in the back failed to drive up a hill, rolled back and overturned. According to the newspaper, the victims were mostly merchants from the city of Hoima, who often make long trips to auction markets to purchase goods.
