At the talks in the Kremlin, US Special Envoy Steven Witkoff raised the idea of organizing a trilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, American leader Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. The proposal did not receive any comments from the Russian side. This was announced on August 7 by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

"We propose, first of all, to focus on the preparation of a bilateral meeting with Trump and consider it important that this meeting be successful and effective," Ushakov said, quoted by TASS.

On August 6, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that telephone talks between Trump and Putin would be possible in the coming days. He added that there is currently no scheduled call between the leaders.

Later, on August 7, Ushakov said that an agreement had been agreed on a meeting between Putin and Trump in the coming days. According to him, the meeting place has already been agreed, but it will be announced a little later.
