UAZ will improve the quality of body parts due to the laser

A new section of laser metal cutting has been launched at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. This was reported to Izvestia on August 7 at the enterprise. The equipment is installed at a new press production site and is capable of increasing the volume of production of the UAZ Pickup and UAZ Profi models with a double cabin by 30%, as well as improving product quality, UAZ noted.

The equipment specializes in manufacturing 3D parts of complex spatial geometry, including sidewall panels, exterior and interior side panels, and roof panels. The laser cutting site is currently running in a test mode, and will be put into commercial operation in the near future.

"Modern programming systems integrated into the laser complex significantly increase the speed and efficiency of production processes. The use of oxygen in the cutting process ensures high-quality edges of parts and improves the characteristics of finished products," said Vitaly Shterts, Chief Technologist at UAZ LLC.
