Thailand and Cambodia have confirmed an agreement to resolve tensions on the border. This was reported on August 7 by Bloomberg, citing representatives of the Thai security service.

"The meeting of high-ranking representatives of the security services of the two countries in Kuala Lumpur approved a set of measures to ensure strict observance of the truce and reduce tension on the border," the publication says.

According to the Thai edition of Thai PBS, at an extraordinary meeting of the Council for Security and cooperation, the parties agreed on 13 points on a cease-fire. Representatives of both countries signed a memorandum of understanding in the hope of resolving the situation and establishing peace.

The publication notes that Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to observe a ceasefire that applies to all types of weapons, as well as to deploy a temporary group of observers at the border, which will consist of the military Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In addition, both sides should avoid provocative military or disinformation actions, strictly observe international humanitarian law and maintain dialogue, using all existing bilateral mechanisms to resolve the problem.

Thai Acting Prime Minister Phum Tham Vechayachai and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Maneta agreed on a ceasefire during talks in Kuala Lumpur on July 28. They were also attended by officials from the United States and China.

A day earlier, on July 27, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed support for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire with Thailand amid an armed conflict on the border between the two countries. According to him, US President Donald Trump expressed concern about the increase in violence and said that "he does not want to see wars and battles that will lead to numerous casualties among soldiers and civilians."

The Reuters news agency reported on July 25 that the escalation of the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia could lead to the outbreak of war. New clashes between the sides were also reported. At least 15 people died as a result of the mutual attacks.
