Scientists predicted the strongest magnetic storm in two months on August 8
On August 8, the most powerful magnetic storm in the last two months of observations is expected on Earth. This was announced on August 7 by the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS and the ISSF SB RAS.
"According to the latest calculations, the moment of arrival of a mass ejection to Earth after a large solar flare of the M4.4 level, which occurred on August 5, will cause significantly stronger geomagnetic effects than previously expected," the Telegram channel said.
It is noted that the planet will be affected by the high-speed core of the cloud, and the impact on the magnetic field may be much stronger than the measuring systems showed a few days ago.
Thus, the beginning of the deterioration of the geomagnetic situation is expected as early as August 7, and on Friday, August 8, the strongest magnetic storm in the last two months is expected. The deterioration of the geomagnetic background will last a week.
The Laboratory of Solar Astronomy also warned on August 6 that geomagnetic disturbances, the source of which will be a coronal hole, may begin on Earth on August 8. In addition, the speed of the solar wind near the Earth's orbit will reach about 600-700 km/s on Friday and Saturday.
