In the Omsk region, a woman was sentenced to imprisonment for torturing her daughter.

In the Omsk region, a local woman was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for torturing her 10-year-old daughter. This was announced on August 7 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"In the Omsk region, a local resident was sentenced to imprisonment for torturing her young daughter. <...> The court sentenced her to two years and eight months of imprisonment in a correctional colony of a general regime," reads a message posted on the Telegram channel.

According to the agency, the woman was found guilty under paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code ("Knowingly torturing a minor"), under part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code ("Threat of murder") and under Article 156 of the Criminal Code ("Failure to fulfill duties to raise a minor"). She was also ordered to pay 150 thousand rubles to the injured daughter as compensation for moral damage.

It is clarified that the convicted person had previously been brought to criminal responsibility, as well as to administrative responsibility under Article 5.35 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation and was registered as a "dysfunctional parent."

Increased responsibility will come for improper performance of duties related to the upbringing, maintenance and education of children.
