Rospotrebnadzor has taken control of information about the outbreak of chikungunya fever in Guangdong province in China, the risks of importation into the Russian Federation remain. This was announced on August 6 by the press service of the department.

"Information about the outbreak of chikungunya fever in the Chinese province is under the control of Rospotrebnadzor," reads a message posted on the Telegram channel.

The ministry clarified that to date, no imported cases of fever have been registered in Russia, but the risk of importation still remains.

It is noted that the Perimeter system is used to ensure security at the border, which allows identifying citizens with signs of infectious diseases. In addition, domestic test systems are used to promptly detect cases of the disease in Russia.

The ministry stressed that there is currently no epidemiological danger.

The Sina News portal reported on August 3 that more than 2.8 thousand people were infected with chikungunya fever in a week in China's southern province of Guangdong. It was clarified that most cases of infection were recorded in the city of Foshan. No serious cases or deaths have been reported.

On May 26, the Russian Embassy reported that Sri Lanka had recorded the largest outbreak of chikungunya fever in 20 years. The disease is transmitted through the bites of yellow-horned mosquitoes, which are most active during the daytime. The symptoms of infection appear within 2-12 days after infection and include severe joint pain, fever, and skin rash.
