On August 6, US President Donald Trump recalled the entry into force of trade duties on imports of goods from different countries.

"The mutual duties will take effect today at midnight. Billions of dollars, mostly from countries that have enjoyed the advantages of the United States for many years... They will begin to enter the country," he wrote on his Truth Social network.

Trump noted that only the opponents of the United States can prevent him from imposing duties.

Earlier in the day, Trump announced his intention to impose duties of 100% on imports of chips and semiconductors. According to Trump, many companies are currently leaving their former locations and moving production to the United States.

On July 29, it was reported that Trump and his administration had launched a major economic experiment with their trade policy, which could lead to devastating results. It clarifies that the rates to which Trump asks other states to agree are usually used by poor countries that are trying to protect nascent industries, but not by industrial giants like the United States.
