The doctor told about the danger of eyelash growth in the conjunctiva of the eye
Eyelashes are an excellent protection for the eye from dust, but their abnormal growth can lead to complications. About this on August 7, "Gazeta.Ru", said the associate professor of the Department of Ophthalmology. Nesterova of Pirogov University, Zhanna Oganezova.
"The conjunctiva is a mucous membrane, so normally hair growth from it is impossible. However, the literature describes a little more than twenty cases when a growing hair was found in the conjunctiva. In most cases, it was an eyelash that had changed its normal position due to various diseases," Oganezova explained.
As the doctor noted, such an anomaly not only creates discomfort in the eye, but can also lead to corneal erosion and keratitis, resulting in blindness or glaucoma.
"Therefore, if an improperly growing eyelash is found in the eye, you should contact an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. The cilia should be removed," the specialist recommended.
At the same time, if there is a complication, you need to start fighting it also with an ophthalmologist.
Earlier, on August 6, Gulnara Orlova, cardiologist, Director of Insurance Products and Customer Experience at Rosgosstrakh Life Insurance Company, told what can be done for back and eye health. According to her, it is important to properly organize the workplace and get up every 60 minutes to warm up. And to reduce eye strain, use the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at an object 20 steps away for 20 seconds. Adjust the brightness of the monitor and provide good lighting.
