Two traffic police inspectors and assistants arrested on suspicion of bribery

In the city of Krasnoyarsk, two traffic police inspectors and two local residents were arrested on suspicion of bribery committed by an organized group. This was announced on August 7 by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (GSU TFR) for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia.

"The Investigative Department <...> has opened a criminal case against the chief inspector and the inspector, <...> as well as two local residents. <... The defendants have been detained," the agency said in a message on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that, according to the investigation, the chief inspector of the traffic police organized a criminal scheme to receive bribes for registration of vehicles that do not meet technical requirements. The rest of the defendants in the case were his accomplices.

"The accomplices divided the illegally obtained funds among themselves and disposed of them at their discretion," the GSU TFR of the region added.

A criminal case was opened into the incident under paragraph "a" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe committed by an organized group").

All the circumstances of the crime are currently being established.

Earlier, on August 5, Lopatiev, the former head of the Navy's radio engineering service, was sentenced to nine years in a penal colony in a bribery case. It is noted that Lopatiev received large-scale bribes totaling over 8 million rubles during the specified period of time. In this case, the court sentenced Lopatiev to nine years in prison to be served in a high-security penal colony, as well as a fine of 16.5 million rubles.
