US President Donald Trump said that the deadline he set earlier for reaching agreements on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine has almost come to an end, but negotiations are currently underway on this topic. He told reporters at the White House on August 6.

"Yes, we're almost there. But right now we are conducting very serious negotiations on how to leave Ukraine, resolve this, end this," the American leader said, answering the relevant question.

At the same time, he did not mention possible sanctions or other consequences for Russia if there is no progress on the settlement within the specified time frame. Instead, Trump focused on the negotiation process.

On July 14, Trump announced his intention to impose 100% secondary duties on Russia if the Ukrainian conflict is not resolved in 50 days. Later, on July 28, he announced that he had reduced this period to 10-12 days.

In addition, on July 31, Trump announced that the United States would impose anti-Russian sanctions after a 10-day period. However, he is not sure that they will have any effect.

Later, on August 4, Trump announced that he would significantly increase duties on India due to imports of Russian oil. He noted that the country sells most of it on the open market, making huge profits. On the same day, it was reported that India and Brazil refused to stop buying oil from Russia, despite threats from Trump.
