On August 6, US President Donald Trump announced during a speech in the Oval Office of the White House that Apple would invest $600 billion in the United States over four years.

"Today, Apple announces a $600 billion investment in the United States over the next four years. This is $100 billion more than originally planned. And this is Apple's largest investment in America," Trump said.

He also added that the company will increase spending on developing its internal supply chain for the iPhone. So, Trump stressed that glasses for smartphones and Apple watches will be produced in the United States.

"We will build the largest and most modern smart glass production line in the world," the American leader said.

Earlier, on August 1, it was reported that the tariffs imposed by Trump would result in costs for Apple and could cost almost $2 billion. Apple CEO Tim Cook said that, in his opinion, the duties imposed caused the greatest damage at the beginning of the year, when Trump began his trade standoff with China.

On May 23, Trump threatened Apple with the imposition of duties of 25% for iPhone phones sold by them that were not manufactured in the United States. He stressed that he had repeatedly asked Cook to move the production of these gadgets to the United States.
