A possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump will be difficult to arrange due to logistical problems and the need for preliminary negotiations. This was reported on August 6 by CNN, citing a source in the White House.

"Although Trump has announced his intention to meet with Putin as early as next week, it is likely to be difficult to hold a meeting on such a date, given the volume of negotiations that will need to be held," one of the American officials said.

The meeting may also be hampered by "logistical obstacles," the source added.

Earlier in the day, The New York Times reported that Trump intends to meet with Putin in person next week. It is noted that, according to the plan of the American president, after the meeting of the two leaders, trilateral talks will be held between Trump, Putin and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.

On August 6, Trump called the meeting between Putin and his special envoy Steven Witkoff productive. The American leader announced great progress following these contacts.

Witkoff arrived in Moscow on the morning of August 6. During the visit, he met with Putin in the Kremlin. Their meeting lasted about three hours.
