American hunter and millionaire Asher Watkins was killed by a buffalo while hunting in South Africa's Limpopo province. This was reported on August 6 by the British newspaper Daily Mail (DM).

"A huge beast rushed at him, crashed into him and killed him almost instantly," the publication says.

It is noted that the incident occurred last Sunday, August 3. The hunted animal weighing 1.3 tons suddenly attacked the 52-year-old shooter, killing him on the spot.

The deceased was known as a professional hunter and permanently resided in the state of Texas. In addition, he owned a company selling exclusive ranches worth up to $40 million.

"This ardent conservationist considered hunting to be an essential part of wildlife conservation. He posted photos of a dead mountain lion, many deer and hundreds of wild birds on his social networks," the newspaper notes.

The company that organized the safari tour said it is currently in contact with Watkins' daughter and ex-wife.

In December 2024, three lions escaped from their cage and killed a keeper at the private Lion Park Zoo in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. The police, the district prosecutor, an investigator, employees of the regional Department of ecology and an armed special squad of law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene. Specialists examined the scene and ordered a forensic and DNA examination.
