The decision of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH), which revoked the mandate of the President of Republika Srpska BiH, Milorad Dodik, should be reacted peacefully and reasonably. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic made such an appeal on August 6.

"Someone thought that it was possible to reject the legitimacy he received from the people, which is always a mistake. Only peacefully, rationally and without any escalation. Milorad Dodik did not make this decision, but now he is asking the people whether they accept the decision of the Central Election Commission and the BiH court," the Serbian leader told TV Prva.

Vucic added that Serbia's policy is to be with its people and Republika Srpska, as well as to preserve peace in the region and prevent a new escalation.

On the morning of August 6, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina made a unanimous decision to annul Dodik's mandate and call early elections. The Bosnian authorities decided to revoke the mandate after the decision of the Court of appeal, which upheld the February verdict of the politician. Then he was sentenced to a year in prison and deprived of the right to hold public office for six years.

The President of Republika Srpska has stated that he does not intend to leave his post and the territory of the republic. He initiated a referendum, in which, according to him, the people will express their will regarding his mandate and the further exercise of presidential powers.
